Let me first say that by Frazer's definition I am far from wealthy. I currently live in the New York metro area working as a young filmmaker. It often feels like I don't have two nickels to rub together. Why should someone like me read a book like this?Frazer describes wealth like a bolt of lightning. It can strike suddenly and never strike again. Are you ready for it? What if some estranged second cousin dies and leaves you a massive inheritance? If you're a musician, athlete, or creative, you may one day hit the jackpot. Then what? You will need an understanding of how money works and how to protect your money for your future and your family.For those of us in the 99%, it can be unfathomable how someone worth 10 million dollars could feel like he doesn't have enough. After reading this book you will understand how. You will understand how people who should theoretically be rich might squander or lose it.If you are starting a business venture or project and wish to pitch a wealthy person to invest in you, this book gives invaluable insight into their point of view and why they may or may not choose to work with you.After reading this book, I recommend reading the Rolling Stone article, "The Trouble with Johnny Depp," which illustrates many of the principles of Frazer's book in vivid reality.
Very much enjoyed how the author breaks down a logical thought process for both clients and professionals. While I'm not in wealth management, I'm work directly with clients in financial services (residential mortgage) and learned a lot from reading about his thought process on how best to serve clients. Much of what he advises I'd like to think I already put into practice, but really appreciated how he specifically detailed his thought process. Took some good notes from this book. Very well written.
Wealth, Actually is a book that undersells its value. It's targeted toward the ultra-rich, but is generally insightful for many who want to have a better conversation with a financial advisor. The advisor/client conversation can be difficult to manage and Frazer nicely sets out some of the key issues on which there needs to be shared understanding and close coordination. This is a quick, worthwhile read.
An excellent read. The book covers all the vital financial issues and concerns. It is helpful for anyone who ever thought about their wealth and its continuum.
I bought this book as a Christmas gift for a relative whom I knew would find it interesting! He has read a couple chapters and is giving them a thumbs up. So far, so good!
They say that someone truly understands a subject when they can explain it in simple terms. In Wealth, Actually Frazer does just this for the 1% when it comes to wealth management.
It's always been challenging to me to find a way to help my kids to develop the right mind set about money. The book provide a great framework and comprehensive insights for me to both re-educate myself, and share my learnings with my kids!
Mr. Rice’s book gives perfect, practical advice. And not just for the wealthy - his tips are easily transferable and useful to modest earners. It’s clear he has extensive experience and knows his stuff.
