Who would have thought to take into consideration to meditate upon the omniscience of God? Certainly I never would have. The omniscience of God seems to be such an understood and common attribute of God that it seems that it needs no real meditation upon it.....I could have never been so wrong. I remember just a few seconds in of my meditation upon the omniscience of God that I felt the awareness of God so powerfully, that is His presence. It heightened my worship today at church so greatly as I pondered upon the omniscience of God that it was one of the best worship experience. Pink being passionate about the full attributes of God rebukes his brethren for the extreme lack of meditation upon this attribute, let alone the entire attributes of God. I am amazed by Pink's zeal and hunger to adore and behold the beauty of our Lord Jesus Christ.....as even now, he is with our Jesus beholding Him as never before.
For the Scripturally familiar, a work substantial to fortify the apologist. Written in 1930, the language will be foreign to later generations. Personally, I stand in agreement with Pink, save the understanding of holiness. God is indeed holy, defined by Arthur as perfect. The Greek, hagios, translated holy, means to be set apart for a purpose. Righteousness is the virtue proving God is perfect while holy describes His unique purpose , being God. I trust as others read this work, they too will respect the intellectual writing, but think hard ad Pink discusses the holiness of God. Do as he says, examine t use of the word in the Scriptures. Holy ground, holy place, holy of holies and the Holy One of Israel. They all speak of something or someone set apart for a purpose, not of perfection.
There is much in this work that many Westerners will disagree with, but I would challenge them to disprove those sections from Scripture.Particularly: 'Again, though it be true, blessedly and gloriously true, that God’s mercy “endureth forever,†yet we must observe carefully the objects to whom his “mercy†is shown. Even the casting of the reprobate into the Lake of Fire is an act of mercy. The punishment of the wicked is to be contemplated from a threefold viewpoint. From God’s side, it is an act of justice, vindicating his honor. The mercy of God is never shown to the prejudice of his holiness and righteousness. From their side, it is an act of equity, when they are made to suffer the due reward of their iniquities. But from the standpoint of the redeemed, the punishment of the wicked is an act of unspeakable mercy. How dreadful would it be if the present order of things, when the children of God are obliged to live in the midst of the children of the Devil, should continue forever! Heaven would at once cease to be heaven if the ears of the saints still heard the blasphemous and filthy language of the reprobate. What a mercy that in the New Jerusalem “there shall in nowise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither worketh abomination†(Rev. 21:27)!'
Every Christian needs to read and study this book. Most Christians have no idea who God really is. They all picture him and the doting old man with beard who "tolerates" everything that sinful man does because He LOVES everyone. WRONG! The book will help separate the sheep from the goats.
I sha be reading Mr. Link's other books.Wish I had read this book years ago. It's very well written; excellent descriptions are all founded on God's Holy Word. Explanations were a most humbling knowledge of a clearer perspective of almighty Father God, Son & Holy Spirit.
If you are looking for an impacting yet brief devotional, I highly recommend Pink's, "Attributes of God." Here you will find a systematic approach to studying the character and nature of God, yet its systematic approach does not make it dry and difficult to read. Pink speaks directly to the heart of our problem as sinners, and brings in the beauty of the Word to inform and guide the reader in seeing (and pursuing) God. It's a masterful work, and definitely worth your time. I highly recommend it!

There is nothing more important than having an accurate knowledge of God. The glory of God has been defined as the sum total of His attributes. As a person comes to know God in increasing measures as He truly exists,they see more of His glory. One of the valuable features in most of the books that Pink has written is that you get numerous quotes from some of the finest works on those subjects that have been written. Mr.Pink quotes from "the" classic,Charnock's "Existence and Attributes of God" no less than ten times. In the preface Pink gives the reader some important directives as to why a book on the attributes of God should be read and how we may profit thereby. He writes,"The foundation of all true knowledge of God must be a clear mental apprehension of His perfections as revealed in Holy Scripture. An unknown God can neither be trusted,served,nor worshipped. ...Something more than a theoretical knowledge of God is needed by us. God is only truly known in the soul as we yield ourselves to Him,submit to His authority,and regulate all the details of our lives by His holy precepts and commandments." Our one great aim in life should be to know God and to worship Him in sprit and in truth. This book exalts the God who is and accurately sets forth His person as He has revealed Himself in His Holy Word. Its eternal value is inestimable in helping someone to come to know better the God of the Bible.
